Policies

Open Access Policy
Perspective operates on the principle of diamond open access, meaning there are no article processing charges (APCs) or subscription fees for authors or readers. All content published in Perspective is freely accessible to the public without financial barriers.

Authors retain the copyright to their work and grant Perspective a non-exclusive licence to publish the article under the Creative Commons Attribution Licence CC BY-NC terms. This licence allows readers to freely share, adapt, and build upon the material for non-commercial means, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source of publication.

Preprint & Prior Publication Policy
Perspective accepts preprints for submission, provided they have not been formally published elsewhere. Articles peer-reviewed and published in another journal (either overlay or traditional) will not be considered. Preprints will undergo peer review as standard submissions, with no consideration given to their prior availability.

Archiving Policy

This journal utilizes PK PN Archiving to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published articles. By depositing content with PK PN, we guarantee that our articles remain available for future research, even if the journal's website becomes inactive.

We encourage authors to also utilize preprint servers or institutional repositories to share earlier versions of their manuscripts. This practice not only facilitates early dissemination of research findings but also enhances visibility and citation potential. By providing access to preprints, authors contribute to a more open scholarly communication landscape.

Ethical oversight
Perspective requires scholars to follow the proper ethical policies at their home institution. Perspective will defer to the Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics, and their Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans, for guidelines on research with vulnerable populations and human subjects. A policy on research on animals is not applicable. COPE procedures will be followed for cases of ethical concerns.

Conflicts of Interest Policy
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their research or its interpretation. Reviewers and editors must also declare any conflicts of interest that may affect the impartial evaluation of a manuscript. All disclosed conflicts of interest will be considered during the review process, and appropriate measures will be implemented to ensure the integrity and objectivity of the journal's publications.

All authors, reviewers, and editors must complete an Ethics and Conflict of Interest form before journal publication.

Data and responsibility
There are no current standards for reporting guidelines for biblical or theological methodologies as they would relate to material published in this journal. Although rarely applicable to this discipline, authors will be encouraged to follow the data management policies of their home institution. They will be encouraged to make the data available in an open-source repository, where applicable.

Copyright & Intellectual property
Perspective is committed to the principles of open-access publishing, ensuring that scholarly research remains freely available to the global community. All works published must have a Creative Commons licence, and the copyright will belong to the author(s).

By submitting their manuscript to Perspective, authors agree to these terms and grant the journal the necessary rights to publish and distribute their work under the principles of open-access publishing.

Authorship & Contributorship
While single authorship is the common practice among Bible and Theology scholars, we hope to encourage co-authored works. All authors will be required to fill out an authorship declaration as part of the Ethics and Conflict of Interest form prior to publication. See AI policy for more information on AI authorship.

AI Policy
Perspective's editors acknowledge the increase of Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage in scholarship. All contributions from artificial intelligence systems (generative AI) must be acknowledged in submitted manuscripts while adhering to ethical guidelines that preclude AI from holding authorship status. However, Perspective's editors emphasize the necessity of human-driven discourse within the field, discouraging AI from assuming a dominant role in scholarly discussions.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work, ideas, or words as one's own without proper acknowledgment or attribution, including self-plagiarism, which involves reusing one's own previously published work without proper citation.

Our journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. Authors must ensure that all content submitted for publication is original and properly cited, giving credit to the original sources whenever necessary. Any instances of plagiarism will result in the rejection of the manuscript and may lead to further disciplinary action, including notifying the author's institution and banning future submissions. To ensure the originality and quality of submissions, all articles and reviews are subject to plagiarism and AI detection checks as part of the editorial review process.

  • Plagiarism Detection: Submissions will be checked for plagiarism using industry-standard software to detect any unoriginal content or improper citations. Manuscripts found to contain significant levels of unoriginal text or insufficient citation of sources will be returned to authors for correction or may be rejected outright.
  • AI Content Detection: We recognize the evolving use of AI tools in writing and research. To maintain transparency, all submissions will also undergo AI detection to identify content that may have been generated by AI tools. If AI-generated content is detected, authors may be required to clarify the extent of AI use in their work. Any undisclosed or improperly acknowledged AI content could result in rejection of the submission.

Authors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with best practices for avoiding plagiarism and to disclose any use of AI tools during the writing process. The journal reserves the right to request revisions, reject submissions, or retract published articles if ethical concerns are identified at any stage. Authors found to have engaged in plagiarism will be held accountable for their actions, and appropriate measures will be taken to uphold the integrity and credibility of the journal's publications. Processes for accusations of plagiarism will follow COPE’s plagiarism flowcharts, as with any other ethical violations.

Retraction and Correction Policy
If errors, inaccuracies, or ethical breaches are identified in a published article, Perspective will consider retractions or corrections as appropriate.

Retractions will be issued for articles that contain significant inaccuracies or ethical violations. At the same time, corrections will be made for minor errors or omissions that do not compromise the overall integrity of the research.

Authors, readers, or other stakeholders who identify potential issues with published articles are encouraged to notify the journal's editorial team promptly. All retractions and corrections will be marked and publicly accessible on the journal's website to ensure transparency and accountability.
