Peer Review
Reviews will receive two single-anonymized peer reviews. At least one of those reviews will be by a Prairie College faculty member in a related field. The second reviewer will either be an external reviewer or another faculty member. For articles submitted by Prairie College faculty, at least one of the reviewers will be an external reviewer. Reviewers are encouraged to consider taking peer review training through PKP’s online courses (free).
Instructions for using the PKP platform as a reviewer can be found here.
Reviewers will receive anonymized manuscripts from the editor. When corresponding with the editor, reviewers are asked to ensure that perspectivejournal@prairie.edu is also CC’ed.
While not limited to these questions, reviewers may find it beneficial to keep these questions in mind when formulating their response:
- Does this manuscript fit with the journal's mission to explore biblical, theological, ministerial, and missiological research that represents the broad spectrum of the Christian experience from a multidisciplinary (and global) perspective? Who is the likely audience?
- What is the significant contribution of the article to global Christianity and the global church? Is the voice of the author(s) clear, or is there too much reliance on others' arguments? Is there an overuse of quotes or ideas from others that overshadows the arguments presented by the author(s)?
- Is the manuscript well written? Does it have a clear thesis? Is it well-supported? Do the arguments flow logically? Do its arguments support its conclusions? Is the manuscript an appropriate length for its contribution? Does the argument contradict itself? Is the argument complete?
- Is there evidence of significant engagement with other scholarship? Does the manuscript show that the author knows the relevant scholarship in the subject area, and is such scholarship properly acknowledged?
Reviewers should submit one of the following responses and a thorough rationale to the corresponding editor.
Reject - The article does not fit Perspective’s mission or the deficiencies of the article prevent it from being published in its current form.
Reject & Resubmit - The article shows substantial deficiencies but significant revisions allow for future reconsideration for publication.
Accept, Subject to Revision - The manuscript will be accepted pending moderate revisions, indicating potential suitability for publication after addressing suggested improvements. Substantial revisions should be given a “Reject & Resubmit” response.
Accept - The article is acceptable for publication subject to minor revisions and copyediting.
